Equinox

20/03/2024 By Adrienne

How do you define your seasons? Here in the UK and coupled with the industry we are in, we are ruled by weather cycles and indeed with global warming our seasons have subverted and extended at times. For us March is still Winter – but for many today, 20 March will represent the first day of Spring.

Meteorological seasons are defined by the weather. They break down the year into four-month seasons based on annual temperature cycles.

Astronomical seasons depend on how the Earth moves around the sun. Equinoxes mark the start of Spring and Autumn. Solstices kick off Summer and Winter. There are only two times of the year when the Earth’s axis is tilted neither toward nor away from the sun, resulting in a “nearly” equal amount of daylight and darkness at all latitudes. These events are referred to as Equinoxes. So happy Equinox to you all.
